Bridge Courses cum Orientation Program

Bridge course cum Orientation Program for the new teacher interns with an objective to bridge the gap between subjects studied by them at their UG level in different streams and subjects they would be studying in a professional course for teacher. Teacher interns, especially new entrants face various problems for example selection of pedagogy subject during admission, totally change nature of the subjects of B.Ed. course, participation in co-curricular activities and to mix with the peer group coming from different streams (B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., etc.) and backgrounds as a peer group. To save their time, energy and any hindrance in their holistic development the program is implemented. A post bridge course test is conducted after the completion of the bridge course to assess the ability of interns after that feedback is given to interns for improvisation. During this one week Bridge course cum Orientation Program, teacher interns will interact with the faculty, peer group and consequently will be well-equipped with the knowledge of B.Ed. course and the confidence needed to take on bigger challenges as committed and competent teacher of the country.

Objectives

At the end of the bridge course teacher interns will be able to:

  • Provide adequate time to the teacher interns for the adjustment required to settle in 2- year B.Ed. course.
  • Provide golden opportunity to teacher interns to know about the course, syllabus, teaching methodology and faculty.
  • Give outline of the program outcomes, program specific outcomes and course outcomes.
  • Create environment for an intermingling of teacher interns from different backgrounds.
  • Bridge the gap between the previously studied subjects and subjects of B.Ed. course.
  • Make teacher interns’ realize his/her place and duties locally and globally as a concerned responsible teacher and citizen.
  • Create a deeper sense of bond to make teacher interns feel relaxed and comfortable with teacher educators.
  • Provide guidance to new teacher interns about the institution administration and welfare scheme for them.
  • Give teacher interns confidence and skills to successfully transition to institution and new curriculum.

Outcomes

  • Develop the team building ability and leadership qualities in teacher interns.
  • Promote positive relationship with peer group, faculty and institutional environment.
  • Encourage the self-confidence among teacher interns and resulted interns whole heartedly able to welcome the structured and supportive learning community.
